Shirley Cresswell
After an extensive career as a registered nurse Shirley had a passion and need to paint. She went to an acrylic night class with a friend in 2007 learning about acrylics. Since then Shirley has developed her own style and technique painting photo realism. With success at numerous art exhibitions and the recipient of several awards she is now a fulltime artist.
Specialising in New Zealand coastal scenes Shirley depicts these in a realist style that captures light and depth in her work. Her talent for painting detailed images that appear true to the scene and in proportion has meant she is kept busy with commission work.
Many of the landscapes that Shirley has painted are from photos she has taken while on holiday; in particular Coromandel, Wellington, Rotorua Lakes and Mahurangi.
Shirley loves how something beautiful can be created from a blank canvas and is thrilled that people can obtain pleasure and memories from the images she creates
